“Keeping our environment clean stops the spread of diseases and saves lives”. To commemorate Gandhiji’s 149th birth anniversary and the 4th anniversary of Swachch Bharat, our Honourable Prime Minister has re-launched the Swachch Bharat campaign. As per the instruction of CBSE, Swachhata Pakhwada, a cleanliness drive for Swachh Bharat was organized in Amrita Vidyalayam, Trichy. We focus on cleanliness throughout the year in our school.
- To start with, children spoke in the assembly about the importance of cleanliness, and students took an oath to maintain cleanliness.
- To encourage and inspire cleanliness, a meeting was held for teachers and students.
- Housekeeping staff regularly inspect the sanitary facilities in every nook and corner of the school and work to upkeep the facilities.
- Children plant trees on the school campus and take care of them regularly.
- Weeding out old files and maintaining records as per procedure are in practice.
- Various competitions like poem writing, skit, essay writing, debate, poster making and painting were held as club activities.
- Children were taught the proper method of hand washing. They were also taught the proper way to cut nails and keep them clean.
- Photographs, paintings, slogans and posters were displayed on the school notice board.
- Students were given awareness about cleanliness of water, water borne diseases and the importance of water harvesting.
- Children penned letters to their parents about what they had learnt in the past ten days about cleanliness.
- Swachhata Hi Seva cleanliness drive was conducted in the surrounding areas of the school. Students, staff and parents took part in the campaign. They also planted saplings in those areas and hung boards with cleanliness slogans.
- We also promise to do the follow-up activities and will strive to keep our environment always clean.
