The final round of the all India level competitions in connection with Sri. Mata Amritanandamayi Devi’s 65 th birthday celebration was held at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, on August 4 th for students of all Amrita Vidyalayam schools. Competitions were conducted in English Speech for 5 minutes on ‘AMMA as a Social Reformer’ for students of Std. XI
and XII, English Elocution based on the topic ‘Reconciling Scientific Knowledge with Spirituality’ for students of Std. VIII to Std. X, and Recitation of a compilation of AMMA’s teachings for students of Std. V to Std. VII. More than 70 students participated.
Pavitra Praveen Nair of Std. XI from Amrita Vidyalayam Ayyanthole (Thrissur) secured first prize in the speech competition, followed by Sowmya T.A. of Std. XII from Amrita Vidyalayam Palakkad, and Visalakshi S. of Std. XII from Amrita Vidyalayam Chennai getting the second and third positions respectively.
Gowri S. of Std. X from Amrita Vidyalayam Kodungallur bagged the first position in elocution. Chinmaya Tejaswini Jayaprakash of Std. X from Amrita Vidyalayam Kuthuparamba secured the second position, and Gourang R. of Std. VIII from Amrita Vidyalayam Puthiyakavu secured the third position.
Sivanandita R. of Std. VI from Amrita Vidyalayam, Pandalam got the first prize in recitation. Nayana Bijoy of Std. VI from Amrita Vidyalayam, Chennai got second prize and Harigovind M.G. of Std. VII from Amrita Vidyalayam, Kodungallur got the third position.
