The Amrita Vidyalayams have state of the art facilities that provide an ambience for stimulating intellectual thinking and academic interaction. The facilities on the campuses include well equipped classrooms that facilitate effective learning, and modern labs in Computer, Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics that are enviable. The students are exposed to the world of knowledge through the vast number of books in our state of the art libraries.
Audio Visual Rooms for Subject EducationThe world is changing faster than ever before. Innovations in many areas have opened up new vistas. Students around the world today are exposed to new learning methods so powerful in their impact that they may well transform our entire concept of education. Therefore, it has now become more critical than ever before to provide our children the opportunity to become globally competitive.
To achieve this, we are striving to provide our children access to learning through the use of multimedia, audio, video and the internet, in order to bring a world of knowledge to them in so fascinating a manner that it arouses their curiosity and makes learning fun. It will open their minds and prepare them not just for the next class or the next exam, but also for their lifetime.
Computer Education Computer Education initiates our young students into the captivating world of computing, and introduces them to its wide and ever increasing range of applications.Computer Education is introduced from Class I in all our schools. A unique curriculum has been developed accepting valuable inputs from various international agencies involved in the field of computer education programmes for schools.
Amrita Learning – Computer based Adaptive Assessment and Learning ProgramDeveloped in research collaboration with Amrita University, Amrita Learning’s unique educational software adapts assessment and instruction based on the child’s response. As the system assesses the child, it also considers what the child needs to know, which part of the curriculum is to be taught or tested next, and how to present the material.
The need to make education at the school level more practice oriented has been a topic of discussion for sometime among educators the world over. The quote, “Tell me, I will forget; show me, I may remember; involve me, I will understand,” neatly sums up the motivation for this move.
In India, the Central Board of Secondary Education initiated mathematics and science labs to make teaching and learning at the school level activity-based and experimentation oriented. The Government of Kerala had also started practical orientation in school education a couple of years back. However, enabling all schools in the country to run practical experiments in physical space is too expensive and likely to take too long. Virtual labs provide a viable alternative in this scenario.
The development of Online Labs or OLabs is in part funded by the Department of IT, Government of India, and jointly developed by CDAC Mumbai and CREATE@Amrita, the Center for Research in Advanced Technologies for Education at Amrita University.
Online Labs provide sophisticated simulations, interactive animations, video demonstrations and assessment, and is designed to motivate and deepen understanding in science education. These cater to students at the school level. It motivates students to conduct experiments by arousing their curiosity, and helps them in learning basic and advanced concepts through virtual experimentation. OLabs maps to national CBSE curriculum, scales to thousands of users and is available free of cost to all students.
True to this ancient saying, we emphasize hands-on practical work as far as possible, to help our students understand the theories of science. Lab work helps bring forth the child’s innate curiosity and channels it into a systematic exploration of things unknown.
All Amrita Vidyalayams at the middle-school and higher levels have well equipped laboratories and modern scientific teaching aids. Our laboratories attest to our commitment to provide high quality education.
Mathematics LaboratoryWe have embarked on an ambitious project to equip our schools with a Maths Lab. A recent concept, Maths Labs can help tremendously in explaining abstract mathematical principles through do-it-yourself exercises, models and special teaching aids. This will go a long way in making the study of Maths, dreaded by many, more learner-friendly.
LibraryThe Amrita Vidyalayam libraries are well stocked with books. It is ensured that a typical library in an Amrita Vidyalayam has an average of seven books per student. Care is also taken to furnish the libraries with good and rare reference books.
We encourage the students to develop a wide reading habit, so that they are well informed and develop a good command of the English language.
Sports
A healthy body promotes a healthy mind. Amrita Vidyalayams encourage children to be healthy in both body and mind.
Sports provide an excellent opportunity for our students to stay healthy, develop good interpersonal skills and concentration, and foster camaraderie, among other things.
Transportation
Amrita Vidyalayam schools have well-organized transport facilities that ensure the safety of the students. Transportation facilities are available along selected routes and availing of this facility is optional.
