Every year, colleges turn out millions of graduates who do not have any specific skills required by the market, which has resulted in a huge shortage of skilled workers. The Computerized Vocational Education programme conducted by AMMACHI Labs aims at rectifying this situation.
AMMACHI Labs deployed vocational training at Amrita Vidyalayam Schools from August through September, 2015. During this period, pilot deployments were conducted at 4 schools in Kerala. Vocational Training Provided by AMMACHI Labs is a combination of CVET (Computerized Vocational Education and Training) which includes both Technical and Non-technical courses, and LEE (Life Enrichment Education).
So far, about 190 students of classes VII and VIII from the Amrita Vidyalayams in Puthiyakavu, Harippad, Koilandy, and Mananthavady have completed training in Fabric Painting, Artificial Jewellery Making, and 2-wheeler Maintenance and Repairs.
As part of LEE, sessions were held on topics such as General Anti-drug Awareness, Harmful Effects of Gutka, Harmful Effects of Tobacco on the Human Body, Domestic Violence, and Alcoholism; short films on the Impact of Drugs and Child Sexual Abuse were also screened. In addition, the students also watched inspirational and motivational videos, and videos promoting teamwork.
