Amrita University had conducted an ACM ICPC for Schools contest for high school students. ACM ICPC stands for Association for Computing Machinery International Collegiate Programming Contest, and was started at Baylor University, Texas, USA.
For the first time, Amrita University hosted the contest for high school students in India. The first round of the contest was online, conducted on October 22, 2016. Nearly 150 school students from all over India and over 7000 college students participated in the contest. All the problems given to the participants were based on mathematics and algorithms, and challenging when compared to the programs usually practiced in schools. From among the 150 school students, three students from AV Thrissur were selected for the next round.
The second round was onsite, held at the Amritapuri campus of Amrita University. From around 30 students who participated as part of 14 teams, the team from AV Thrissur won the third position by solving 3 problems out of 10, competing with college students who got the same problem set in a national level competition!
Congratulations to the team from AV Thrissur!
